This 5 day event is suitable to all levels. Don’t let the title fool you, ‘Foundations’ does not mean ‘basic,’ or easy or beginner. This may be your first introduction to some of the skills that encourage good Contact Improv dancing but hopefully not the last. Many of the skills are not learned in a single workshop. Two classes per day of 2 hours each will leave us with enough energy to jam in the evening. Jamming in the evening is integral to learning the skills we practised during class.
$500Canadian includes tuition, taxes, meals, camping/dormitory, and transportation on Lasqueti.
Dancing still, dancing wild. Deep silence to spring symphony, to wild summer dances…
In the silent morning we dance to inner songs. In the afternoon, we move together. Sauna in the evening brings further relaxation. A sweet mix of meditation, dance & contact improvisation, bodywork and contact tango. It is springtime! Let’s play, dance with the trees and connect with yourself and others. Special attention for landscapes, nature, beeing and dancing outside….
The retreat centre is environmental friendly ‘de Vlierhof’, in the peaceful landscape of Kleve, a small village just across the Dutch border near Nijmegen.
Retreat starts Thursday 25 May with a dinner at 18.30 and ends on Sunday 28 May with a lunch at 13.00.

Kristien Sonnevijlle is a dancer/vocalist with a background in physical theater. She is specialized in improvisation as a performing art, ‘instant composition’. She has spent long summers in France and winters in India in meditation retreats with different teachers. She believes movement, vocal work and meditation are deeply connected and inform each other. Japanese butoh dance studies helped her to further develop this connection, as well as the current Bio-dynamic craniosacral training.
