Claymont Court, 667 Huyett Road, Charles Town, WV 25414 USA

in the Shenandoah Valley, not far from Washington, DC

The East Coast Jam is a glorious four-day contact improvisation jam, held each fall and spring at Claymont Court, Charles Town, West Virginia. We dance in an octagonal barn and live in a grand old mansion, linked by a walk through gardens and fields and forests. All meals (succulently prepared by Mirabai Mcleod) are included.

From the time registration opens until September 26, register for the fall jam at the base price. The price goes up on September 27, so don’t delay!

Visit eastcoastjam.com for details and online registration. Only a $50 deposit (not refundable after Sept. 26) is required at the time of registration, by PayPal.

The East Coast Jam is a collaboration – much like a dance. Warmups, workshops, performances, and other structures are initiated and led by us, the jammers. When we’re not dancing, there’s conversation, music, exploring field and forest, poetry, chocolate, theater, walks, games…

As ever, spread the word by inviting the people you’d like to dance with, and forwarding this message to interested communities. We want to continue to grow and deepen this lovely gathering.

In anticipation of dancing in a few weeks, we hope you’ll be with us!

$350 for full jam, base price (until Sept. 26). See the web site for other options.

GROWING WINGS
Come experience an enriching and fun weekend of contact improv with renowned dancer and teacher – Moti Zemelman

Date: October 17/18, 2015

SATURDAY 10am-5pm:
Theme – COVERING GROUND
Focuses on finding new approaches towards transitioning to the ground – The first step towards flying! What goes up must come down! (More often called FALLING!!). Falling can be fun. Learn about your SOFT landing gear. For those who are new to Contact Improv or those with experience who want to brush up, fall down, flop, drop, dip, slip, slide, nosedive, and get grounded!

SUNDAY 2pm -6pm:
Theme – FLIGHT PATTERNS
A study in the art of flying, we’ll explore lifts, weight-sharing and the dynamics of flight. Learn to develop more comfort with heights, being upside-down, and using momentum through the air. We will practice listening to the subtle invitations that our partners offer us to go UP and find new pathways towards the sky!

Imagine every part of your body can find pathways through the air. The air traffic control center is your whole being. Impulses, instincts, intuition, and reflexes all tell our bodies how to circumnavigate the atmosphere around us. Recognizing the patterns that already exist in us, our partners, and in the physical world allow us to reconstruct time and space. Come set your GPS coordinates for new destinations.
